Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Behavioral Health Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, CPI Must-Have: Ability to assess patients' mental health status, including recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems. Description: 48 hours guaranteed preferred. Active blue card CPI required. Unit specifics include a varied patient demographic and acuity. Patient ratios are nurses 8 to 1, with mental health technicians 12 to 1. Assesses patients' mental health status by taking thorough patient histories and observing behavior. Develops individualized care plans based on the needs of patients with mental health and behavioral issues. Administers psychiatric medications and monitors for side effects or adverse reactions. Provides immediate, short-term support to patients in crisis using de-escalation techniques and appropriate medication management. Builds trust and rapport with patients through effective communication, active listening, and empathy. Monitors patients for physical and psychological symptoms, including vital signs and mental status changes. Unit guidelines and policies are followed to maintain standards of care. Candidates should possess skills in therapeutic communication and crisis intervention.
