Must-Have:
Proficient in cardiac monitoring
Experience with management of chest tubes
Experience with fresh tracheostomies
Feeding tube care and management
Care of post-operative patients
Experience with epidurals
Management of non-titratable cardiac drips
IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
External BiPAP/CPAP experience
Familiarity with total laryngectomy care
Ability to perform Doppler flap checks
Description:
First-time travelers accepted.
Locals are not accepted.
If a traveler calls in for a scheduled shift, the traveler must make up the shift during the pay period or, if unable, the shift will be added at the end of the contract.
Travelers are expected to work every other weekend as per their contract.
Based on operational needs, consecutive weekends may also be required.
Pending operational needs, charge nurse responsibilities may be needed with provided training and resources.
Travel nurses may be required to precept and/or have students shadow them during their assignment.
Unit information includes a surgical PCU with almost ICU-level acuity, focusing on ENT, thoracic, general surgery, and urology patients.
Staffing ratios typically include 1:3-4.
Unit travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care, including Med-Surg and ICU, with resources provided.
Refusal to float may lead to termination of the contract.
Additional requirements include care of inpatient post-operative patients and experience with enteral feedings.
The unit operates with an interdisciplinary support team including various services and specialties.
Candidates should have experience with both arterial and central lines, chest tubes, and surgical drains.
Floating to affiliate hospitals nearby may be necessary, and floating is a requirement for all travelers.
Major holiday coverage is required as specified.
