Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse – North Carolina

Start Date: October 12, 2026
Location: North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week available, every other weekend requirement

Highlights:

• ICU stepdown unit with 18-20 beds serving post-rapid response patients with complex needs
• Strong critical care experience required - unit operates similarly to ICU with advanced drip management
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4 with interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, and rapid response teams
• Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management
• Contract length of 13 weeks or longer available through February 27th
• Floating may be required to sister ICCU unit as needed

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of progressive care, stepdown, or telemetry nursing experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Strong experience with arterial line management and titrating vasoactive drips (Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Neosynephrine)
• Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management with bedside telemetry monitoring
• Experience with central line care, PICC management, blood product administration, and heparin protocols
• Competency with BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management
• IV start capability and conscious sedation experience required
• North Carolina or Compact state RN license
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Patient Population:

• Adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Diagnoses include respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, GI bleeds, post-operative patients (GYN, GU, GI, thoracotomies, neuro, ortho), and complicated OB cases
• Post-rapid response team stabilization and withdrawal management

• First-time travelers accepted
