Management of dysrhythmias experience
Telemetry monitoring experience
Use of Rapid Response Teams experience
IV insulin protocols experience
Blood product administration experience
Central line care and management experience
Peripheral line care and management experience
PICC line management experience
Familiarity with heparin protocols
Experience with CVA, chest tubes, external CPAP/BIPAP
High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and nasal cannula experience
Non-invasive airway management skills
Tracheostomy management experience
Knowledge of isolation precautions
Description:

RTO after booking is not permitted and cannot be worked out onsite.
Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could result in a cancellation and DNR.
No block scheduling available.
The unit operates similarly to an ICU setting.
Strong drip experience is essential.
The unit will accept first-time travelers and locals.
Target ratios are 1:3-4.
The unit will accept contracts for 13 weeks or longer.
Travelers must be available for classes each day during the hospital orientation week.
Must pass EKG testing prior to commencement in this specialty.
Floating may be required as needed to a sister unit.
Weekend rotation is required every other weekend.
Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
Daily census averages 19 patients, with admissions including post rapid response team patients, respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal, GI bleeds, and post-op complications.
Patients may be admitted post-surgical procedures including GYN, GU, GI, thoracotomies, neuro, and orthopedic surgeries, as well as pre/post OB patients with complications.
Special procedures include managing only one pressor drip per patient; additional titratable drips will necessitate transfer to ICU.
The unit utilizes bedside telemetry monitors with remote backup.
Nurses must be capable of recognizing and treating dysrhythmias.
Additional equipment includes A-lines, BIPAPs, chest tubes, and trach management.
There are no ventilators on the unit.
