Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Stepdown/Medsurg Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Weekend Nightshift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required License: License required for submission Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: MUST HAVE EPIC EXPERIENCE Description: 29-bed Stepdown/Medsurg unit currently undergoing construction. All beds will be step down equipped, with an opening planned for the first quarter of 2026. Nurse to patient ratios for stepdown: 3:1. Nurse to patient ratios for Medsurg: 6:1. The unit serves both floor and step-down patients based on patient and hospital needs. Diverse patient population with primarily medical diagnoses. Candidates should be able to handle 6 patients for Medsurg or 3 patients for stepdown. RNs will have orders written to titrate drips. Common titratable drips include Heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, morphine/dilaudid/fentanyl PCAs, and TPN. Charge RNs and House Supervisors available 24/7. Charge RNs will likely take an assignment when the unit first opens, but the goal is to always run with a free charge RN. Clinical Associates (nurse aids) will be assigned to maintain a ratio of 1:10. Equipment on the unit includes CPAP, BiPAP, and HiFlo; vents will only require adjustment in ICU. There is a remote telemetry surveillance center for central monitoring. RNs are not expected to read their own telemetry strips; equipment used is Phillips telemetry monitoring. 12-hour shifts are scheduled with efforts made for requested schedules. Weekend work is a requirement for this position. Expectation to work approximately half of all recognized holidays. No call or standby requirement is necessary. First to float or be pulled to other floor/stepdown units as needed. Dress code includes any combination of royal blue and white. Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week assignment and 1 shift for assignments less than 13 weeks.
