Description:
The unit supports patients who require intermediate care and downgraded CVICU patients.
The unit heavily supports thoracic procedures, electrophysiology, catheterization laboratory, and structural heart interventions.
Common diagnoses include CVA, congestive heart failure, and atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response.
RN's are required to titrate drips.
Common titratable medications include Amiodarone, Nitro, Nicardipine, Epinephrine, Cardizem, and others for blood pressure management.
There is a charge nurse on each shift, and it is rare for the charge nurse to take an assignment.
Patient care techs are present on the unit with a ratio of 1 tech to every 18 patients.
Clientists and intensivists are present in the facility 24/7.
Respiratory therapists are in-house 24/7.
RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips.
The unit utilizes remote telemetry techs and has capabilities for hardwired telemetry and telemetry boxes.
Shifts are scheduled from 0630 to 1900 and 1830 to 0700.
The manager is responsible for scheduling with no self-scheduling options available.
Weekend shifts are required every other weekend.
Floating requirements entail floating to other same-level or lower-acuity units.
The dress code is navy blue scrubs.
Unit-specific orientation will be tailored to individual needs and experience.
RTO must be submitted upfront, and additional requests will not be approved once submitted.
The hospital has a cancellation policy allowing the cancellation of up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.
The charting system used on this unit is EPIC.
A BSN is not required for submission.
This is an acute care setting with a trauma level of 1.
