Description:
The unit primarily cares for adult oncology and trauma patients.
There are 18 beds on the unit.
The nurse-patient ratio is typically 1:4 to 1:5 during both day and night shifts.
Self-scheduling is available but will be balanced to the needs of the unit.
Nurses on this unit occasionally titrate insulin and Cardizem drips.
Common medications include chemotherapy, heparin, Cardizem, and Protonix.
High-flow respiratory equipment is commonly encountered.
Support staff on the unit includes nursing assistants, a charge nurse, physical/occupational therapists, RN case managers, social workers, an educator, and a dietitian.
Hourly rounding and bedside shift report are key focuses for patient experience.
The team values nurses who genuinely care for patients, maintain a positive attitude, and embrace teamwork.
All patients are treated with respect, and care is provided from diagnosis through remission or for compassionate end-of-life care.
Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled during the assignment.
Charting is done using the EPIC system.
The position is in an acute care setting.
No BSN is required for this role.
