Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Surgical Stepdown (Post-Surgical: Abdominal/Colorectal) Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year progressive care/step down experience required License: Must possess a valid nursing license Certifications: AHA BLS required Must-Have: - Recent experience in Surgical Stepdown or related specialty - Knowledge of Epic charting system is preferred but testing options are available Description: Unit cares for patients post-abdominal and colorectal surgeries. Responsibilities include managing the care of patients recovering from major surgical procedures such as colectomy, bowel resection, and other related surgeries. Involves caring for patients undergoing urological, orthopedic, and plastic surgeries as well. Familiarity with specialty wound care and surgical drains is essential. Staffing ratios are 1 nurse to 6 patients. Every other weekend rotation is required. Holiday rotation allows for 1 holiday off per year with specific guidelines. Visible tattoos are permitted as long as they are not offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate for a professional setting. Facial and ear piercings must maintain a professional appearance and not interfere with job duties. Immunization documentation for Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, TDaP, and influenza is mandatory.
