Description:
This is a busy surgical floor that cares for both PCU and Med Surg patients.
All permanent staff is PCU trained.
Staffing ratios have a goal of 1:4, but can be 1:5.
Weekends are variable based on unit needs.
There is no set or blocked scheduling as that is not offered for permanent staff.
All travelers may be required to float within their scope of practice.
If you accept a rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination.
Shift assignments are reviewed every four-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed.
The patient age group includes adults and geriatrics.
Patient diagnoses include various types of cancers and surgical oncology procedures.
Special procedures performed include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and management of oncologic emergencies.
There is a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls.
Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.
There is a need for strong experience in both surgical and medical-surgical settings due to mixed acuity.
Candidates must meet baseline requirements for acute care experience within the past 12 months.
