Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (19:00 - 07:00) Experience: Minimum of 1 Year Preferred License: State License and/or Compact State Licensure Certifications: BCLS, ACLS Must-Have: BSN Preferred Description: This position involves working in a Step Down Unit. The role requires caring for adults and geriatric patients. The unit focuses on medical and post-surgical care for cardiac, vascular, and thoracic patient populations. Candidates should have experience with accessing and managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, and blood product administration. Skills in cardiac telemetry, central line care, and managing chest tubes are important. The position involves interpreting arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias. Management of cardiac and vasoactive drips is required, along with providing care for post-cardiac procedures. The nurse will actively participate in the interdisciplinary support system. This includes collaboration with physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Experience with EPIC charting is preferred. Candidates must be able to manage patients with various diagnoses, including post-operative recovery. The job may also involve participation in rapid response and code teams. Additional skills such as wound care and tracheostomy management are beneficial. This role does not require weekend coverage but may include weekend shifts as part of the schedule.
