Job Title: RN - Stepdown Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2+ years including telemetry experience License: NC or Compact license in hand Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: ACLS preferred Required charting experience: EPIC Description: Targeted start date is 9/21 or 10/5. No blocked scheduling is allowed. Gel polish and artificial nails, dips, powders, press-ons, etc. are prohibited per Infection Control policy. This position is for an RN specializing in stepdown care. Requires a minimum of 2 years of experience with telemetry. BLS and NIHSS certifications are required. ACLS certification is preferred. Experience with EPIC charting is required. RNs must hold a current NC license or Compact license. The schedule is for 3 shifts of 12 hours, full-time, with every other weekend required. Required skills include, but are not limited to: Accessing and managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, and blood product administration. Cardiac telemetry experience is necessary, along with central line care and management. Chest tube management, continuous bladder irrigation, and understanding of cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) are essential. Candidates must have experience with feeding tube care, heparin protocols, and high flow nasal cannula management. Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) and dysrhythmias is also required. Ability to manage cardiac drips and non-invasive airway management is crucial. Candidates should be familiar with oxygen administration and management of patients with pacemakers. Other required skills include PCA management, post-cardiac angiogram care, and pre/post hemodialysis management. Experience with renal failure, seizure disorders, and surgical drains is necessary. Ability to manage telemetry monitoring, both on unit and remote, is required. Candidates should be knowledgeable about titration of cardiac and insulin drips. Experience with tracheostomy care and management is also essential. Participation in rapid response and code teams is expected. Wound care experience, including the use of wound vacs, is necessary. The unit provides interdisciplinary support from various healthcare professionals. Common patient diagnoses include heart failure, respiratory failure, sepsis, and other acute conditions. Special procedures may involve pre and post-cardiac catheter lab patients. Knowledge of cardiac telemetry monitoring and equipment is necessary.
