Patients typically include those with primary diagnoses such as strokes, renal disorders, sepsis, endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, and hematological disorders. The unit does not transfer patients when they are downgraded from progressive care to medical-surgical. The facility accommodates patients who require long-term care due to their health conditions. Centralized cardiac monitoring is in place for telemetry-monitored beds. All nurses must pass a compliance EKG exam, with two attempts allowed. Modules required for orientation are unit-based and vary in length.
