Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years required License: Active nursing license required Certifications: ACLS BLS NIHSS Must-Have: Cardiac telemetry experience required Management and interpretation of dysrhythmias Peripheral line care/management PICC line management Titration of drips PCU ratios experience - 1:5 Floating required as needed Description: This position involves working three 12-hour shifts during the day. Weekend rotation and holiday rotation are required. No on-call duty is expected. All travelers may float between campuses as needed. Two years of experience is required, and first-time travelers are welcome. ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are mandatory. Experience in cardiac telemetry is essential. Nurses must manage and interpret dysrhythmias effectively. Experience in peripheral line care and management is required. Candidates must have experience in managing PICC lines. Titration of drips is a necessary skill. Nurses must be comfortable working with patient ratios of 1:5 in a PCU setting. Floating to other units or campuses may be needed based on patient care requirements. This role is in a general medical progressive care unit providing cardiac surveillance. Patients typically include those with primary diagnoses such as strokes, renal disorders, sepsis, endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, and hematological disorders. The unit does not transfer patients when they are downgraded from progressive care to medical-surgical. The facility accommodates patients who require long-term care due to their health conditions. Centralized cardiac monitoring is in place for telemetry-monitored beds. All nurses must pass a compliance EKG exam, with two attempts allowed. Modules required for orientation are unit-based and vary in length.
