Start Date: October 5, 2026
Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week available; every other weekend required; floating to sister ICCU unit as needed; nurse manager creates schedule
Highlights:
- ICU stepdown unit with 20 beds and daily census of 18 patients
- Patient population includes post-rapid response, respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, GI bleeds, and post-operative patients across multiple specialties
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4 with one vasoactive drip per patient maximum
- Epic charting system and Pyxis medication management
- Contract length of 13 weeks or longer available
- Strong critical care drip experience essential – unit operates similarly to ICU environment
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of progressive care or stepdown nursing experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- North Carolina or Compact RN license
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Demonstrated competency in arterial line management and titrating vasoactive drips (Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Neosynephrine)
- Experience with telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management, IV starts, and conscious sedation
- Proficiency with central line care, PICC management, blood product administration, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
- Knowledge of IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, and isolation precautions
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions available)
