Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 Years of Med Surg Experience Required License: Active State License Required Certifications: BCLS, ACLS Must-Have: 2 years of med-surg experience. Stepdown/PCU experience required. Must be comfortable floating between units. Must be willing to work weekdays, every other weekend, and holidays as needed. Cannot reside within 50 miles of the facility. No license or background hits allowed. Description: This is a day shift role that typically starts at the end of October. The position requires traveling nurses to be comfortable with floating to Step Down and Med Surg/Telemetry units. Nurses will work in a 29-bed general surgical and orthopedic unit with medical overflow. Ratios for care are Step Down 1:4-5 and Med Surg 1:5-6. Frequent floating is required, and nurses must confirm their willingness to float regularly. Daily duties include managing a variety of patient diagnoses primarily involving surgical and orthopedic issues. The unit may handle additional medical cases with surgical consults, including but not limited to TKA, THA, and various gastrointestinal surgeries. Skills required include but are not limited to IV management, telemetry, wound care, and various aspects of patient monitoring. Experience with specific equipment such as heparin drips and chest tubes is necessary. This position involves collaboration with an interdisciplinary team for optimal patient care.
