Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of medical-surgical experience required License: Must already be licensed in state Certifications: BCLS, ACLS required Must-Have: Traveler must have step down/PCU experience. Description: Dayshift is available with an ASAP start date. Candidates cannot live within a 50-mile radius of the facility. This is primarily a medical-surgical role that frequently floats to step down and medical-surgical/telemetry units. Candidates must be comfortable working in both areas. Patient ratios are as follows: Step Down 1:4-5, Medical Surgical 1:5-6. Frequent floating is required, and candidates must confirm comfort with this. First-time travelers are accepted. Facility will not accept any license or background hits. Unit profile includes a general surgical and orthopedic unit with medical overflow. Skills required include IV start and various nursing protocols. Travel experience is preferred but not required. Scrubs are not provided; royal blue and white uniforms are expected. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech. Expect to work holidays and weekends in rotation with staff or as assigned. High patient care ratios and significant floating are expected. Floating will only occur within the facility, and appropriate orientation will be provided. Candidates should be aware of the need for minimal to no requested time off during the first weeks of the assignment. Previous charge experience is preferred. Experience with the charting system is preferred, especially with Meditech. Must demonstrate proficiency in key skills required for the unit's patient population. Patient diagnoses primarily include surgical and orthopedic cases with medical overflow. Floating to step down/PCU is required; previous experience is essential.
