Key Responsibilities

• Provide post-anesthesia care to a diverse patient population including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Manage IV therapy including blood products, central/PICC line care, and IV starts; perform respiratory care including ventilated patients, chest tubes, airway management, tracheostomy, extubation, and End-Tidal CO2 monitoring
• Support neurological care including craniotomy, EVD, spine surgery, and stroke scale assessments
• Administer and monitor cardiac medications including antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, vasopressors, opioids, and reversal agents; manage arterial lines, dysrhythmias, and CPR
• Care for patients across a broad range of surgical specialties including ICU, trauma, pediatrics, bariatric, neurosurgery, orthopedics, ENT, gynecology, urology, and more
• Participate in on-call rotation, float within skillset as needed, and fulfill holiday and weekend scheduling requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia state RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending licensure accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS
• Proficiency with EPIC charting system required
• Minimum of one prior travel assignment required — first-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• Must live at least 100 miles from the facility to be eligible; candidates residing within 100 miles are considered local and are not accepted (distance is calculated from the address on the candidate's Driver's License only)
• Must be available to work at least one holiday per 13-week contract; winter holiday assignments may require two holidays

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with pre/post-op procedures including EKG, consent, cath/endoscopy, and straight catheterization
• Experience with monitoring and assessments including lab values, isolation protocols, malignant hyperthermia, pain management, PCA, and RASS scoring
• Pediatric patient management experience
• Familiarity with a wide range of surgical specialties including neurosurgery, orthopedics, bariatric, and ENT
