Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (08:30 - 17:00) Experience: Minimum 1 year required License: Valid State License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS Must-Have: Flexible schedule required Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Competency in various nursing skills and procedures Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Post Anesthesia Care. This role involves providing pre and post-operative care to patients. Start times vary between 0600 and 0830, requiring flexibility in scheduling. Nurses scheduled for PACU are expected to complete their shifts without relief. No weekend or holiday shifts are required, and there is no on-call duty. The unit handles all outpatient surgeries, including general, orthopedic, and urology procedures. Daily patient census averages around 10. Nurses will work with both adults and pediatric patients, providing comprehensive care. Competency with end-tidal CO2 monitoring, medication administration, and discharge instructions is expected. Additional skills necessary include airway assessment, IV management, and post-op management protocols. Candidates should be familiar with Epic or similar charting systems. Teamwork and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams are essential. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to manage various patient diagnoses. Travelers may be required to float to nearby facilities as needed. Compliance with all unit procedures and protocols is a must.
