Description:
This position requires a registered nurse with expertise in the PACU specialty.
The nurse will be expected to handle patients recovering from anesthesia and provide necessary care.
They should be comfortable with a patient ratio of up to 1:4, accommodating overflow patients.
Call duties occur every third weekend, typically on a volunteer basis.
Candidates must have skills in end-tidal CO2 monitoring, airway assessment, and monitoring of ventilated patients.
Experience with various surgical procedures is essential, including but not limited to abdominal aortic aneurysm repair and central line management.
Knowledge of medication reconciliation and protocols for hyperglycemia/hypoglycemia is required.
A strong understanding of emergency medications and inpatient care is crucial.
The nurse may be assigned to an emergency team where they will be expected to stay until the event passes.
Comfort with a variety of patient demographics, including infants, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics is necessary.
Candidates who have worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have been separated for a full year before returning.
This role will include working in a fast-paced environment requiring effective communication skills and teamwork.
