Registered Nurse - Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Job Summary

This is an exciting 16-week travel assignment for a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) services. The role is based at a dynamic acute care facility in Sandy Springs, Georgia, specifically on the Ground Floor PACU.

The unit manages a diverse and higher acuity patient population recovering from a wide range of surgical procedures, including Thoracic, Orthopedic, Neurology, Vascular, Urology, and General surgery cases. The successful candidate will play a critical role in monitoring, assessing, and stabilizing patients in the immediate post-operative phase, ensuring optimal recovery and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive post-anesthesia care for patients recovering from various surgical procedures.
  • Monitor vital signs, airway patency, neurological status, and hemodynamic stability.
  • Administer medications, manage pain, and address post-operative complications such as nausea and vomiting.
  • Perform thorough patient assessments and intervene appropriately in critical situations.
  • Collaborate effectively with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare team members.
  • Document patient care accurately and completely in the electronic medical record system.
  • Educate patients and families on post-operative care and recovery expectations.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care experience in a Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) setting.
  • Experience with Cerner Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

  • Call Requirements: Unit is covered with call on holidays; participation may be required.
Licensing Requirements
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
