Pediatric Travel Nurse Job Details
- Location: Lubbock, Texas
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,740–$1,840
- Assignment Type: Pediatric Registered Nurse travel contract
- Healthcare Setting: Children’s hospital and Level II pediatric trauma center
- Start Date: November 30, 2026
- End Date: March 22, 2027
- Duration: 16 weeks
- Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Patient Population: Infants, pediatric patients, and adolescents
- Typical Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:3–5
- Weekend Requirement: Approximately five weekend shifts during the six-week scheduling period
- Floating: May float between units or nearby sister facilities within scope of practice
- Call: May be required based on unit census
- Electronic Medical Record: Epic
Pediatric Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; compact license must be in hand at submission when applicable
- At least 1 year of pediatric nursing experience required
- Additional pediatric inpatient or pediatric Med-Surg experience preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Recent experience with electronic medical record documentation; Epic experience required
- Competence with pediatric medication administration, dysrhythmia recognition, oxygen delivery systems, isolation precautions, and central or implanted line care
- Experience with pediatric Med-Surg care, respiratory support including BiPAP and CPAP, enteral feedings, breast milk handling, and hyperbilirubinemia care
- Ability to work night shifts, weekends, holidays, and float within the assigned scope of practice
- Two professional references covering at least one year of experience within the past three years
Pediatric RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents in a pediatric inpatient setting
- Assess pediatric patients, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes
- Administer medications and treatments while monitoring for changes in patient condition
- Manage pediatric Med-Surg patients with varied medical and surgical needs
- Provide respiratory support and monitor oxygen delivery systems, including BiPAP and CPAP when indicated
- Perform central line and implanted line care using appropriate infection-prevention practices
- Support bottle, breast, and gavage feedings, including the safe handling of breast milk
- Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias, changes in patient status, and urgent clinical needs
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and communicate effectively with families and the interdisciplinary care team
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, interpretation services, and rapid response teams
- Float between appropriate units or nearby facilities as needed to support patient care
