Pediatric RN Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; compact license must be in hand at submission when applicable
  • At least 1 year of professional Registered Nurse experience
  • Pediatric nursing or pediatric inpatient experience preferred
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications
  • Recent experience documenting in Epic is required
  • Competency with pediatric medication administration, feedings, breast milk handling, and age-appropriate assessments
  • Experience with central line or implanted line care, oxygen delivery systems, isolation precautions, and BiPAP/CPAP management
  • Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and care for patients with hyperbilirubinemia
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, applicable holidays, and float within scope as needed
  • Two professional references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years

Pediatric Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents in a pediatric inpatient setting
  • Perform comprehensive pediatric assessments, monitor patient status, and promptly communicate changes to the care team
  • Administer medications and treatments according to pediatric safety standards and established care plans
  • Manage pediatric feedings, including bottle, breast, and gavage feeding, as well as breast milk handling and support
  • Provide central line and implanted line care while maintaining strict infection prevention practices
  • Manage oxygen delivery systems and support patients requiring BiPAP or CPAP
  • Interpret dysrhythmias, initiate appropriate interventions, and escalate concerns when indicated
  • Apply isolation precautions and other safety measures to protect patients, families, and the care team
  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, interpretation services, and rapid response teams
  • Support continuity of care through effective communication, patient education, and thorough handoffs
