Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Pediatrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days, weekends, and holidays required Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a Level 1 Trauma setting License: Current RN License as required Certifications: Basic Life Support, PALS Must-Have: - Experience with trach and high flow. - Familiarity with infusions. - Ability to float to various pediatric care areas including surgical, behavioral health, and specialty units. Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. Assists physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients. Observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with the family and patient in sharing the care plan while in the hospital and at the time of discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Experience in floating to various units required. Must be able to provide care for low acuity patients when floated to specialized areas. Ability to effectively respond to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors is essential. Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
