Travel Nurse RN - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in San Antonio, TX

Key Responsibilities Provide ICU-level nursing care across a broad range of pediatric patient populations including respiratory, neuro, GI, GU, burns, DKA, ortho, ENT, and patients with cardiac histories. Manage and monitor patients on ventilators, drips, chest tubes, central lines, syringe pumps, trachs, and gastrostomy tubes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide ICU-level nursing care across a broad range of pediatric patient populations including respiratory, neuro, GI, GU, burns, DKA, ortho, ENT, and patients with cardiac histories
• Manage and monitor patients on ventilators, drips, chest tubes, central lines, syringe pumps, trachs, and gastrostomy tubes
• Maintain patient ratios of 2:1, with 1:1 for higher acuity and up to 3:1 for step-down/lower acuity patients
• Assist with or support procedures including central line and chest tube placement, sedation, lumbar puncture, and intubation
• Document patient care accurately using the Meditech EMR system
• Float to other children's units as needed, including NICU and pediatric specialty areas

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license with a minimum of 1 year of ICU-level nursing experience
• Experience caring for intubated patients and managing mechanical ventilators
• PALS certification required
• Ability to work night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) and every other weekend
• Navy blue scrubs required; t-shirts not permitted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for patients on ECMO (patient care, not pump management)
• Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR
• Flexible, positive, and communicative personality with strong teamwork skills
