Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Registered Nurse in a hospital setting, responsible for providing intermediate care to patients requiring close monitoring and management of complex conditions. The role involves supporting patients with diagnoses such as cardiac and vascular issues, postoperative care, and supporting thoracic, electrophysiology, and structural heart procedures. The position is located in a facility that offers 12-hour night shifts.
Job Details:
- Position: Registered Nurse within the Step Down Unit
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with a minimum of 48 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar patient population, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale), and a driver's license.
- Experience or 'Must have' skills: At least 2 years of experience with intermediate and cardiac patient populations, including experience with titratable intravenous medications such as amiodarone, nitro, nicardipine, epinephrine, and others.
- Additional Information:
- Must float to compatible units with similar or lower acuity levels.
- RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting telemonitor strips and managing BiPAP/CPAP equipment.
- Nurse aides/patient care techs support the unit with a 1:18 ratio.
- The unit operates with a hospitalist and intensivist in-house 24/7, with cardiology on call after hours.
- Typical dress code is Navy Blue scrubs.
- Upfront RTO (Request To Offer) required for 7 or fewer days within the 13-week contract; additional RTO requests will not be approved.
- Candidates must adhere to a 50-mile radius rule and cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the applicable healthcare network.
- The start date for this assignment is 09/28/2026, and the assignment ends on 01/11/2027.
