Care Career is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska.

PCU Registered Nurse – 12-Hour Nights

Department: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Setting: Acute Care | Trauma Level II
Shift: 12-hour Nights
Schedule: 6:30 PM–7:00 AM
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Contract: 13 weeks

 

Important – 50-Mile Radius Rule:

  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius
  • Driver’s license must be submitted and will be used to verify the radius
  • Candidates cannot currently be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity

Required Certifications:

  • BLS – AHA
  • ACLS – AHA
  • NIHSS
  • RN license required for submission
  • BSN not required

Unit Details:

  • 35 beds
  • Patient ratio: 1:4–5
  • Patient population: Adults and geriatrics
  • Common cases: Cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, continuous EEG monitoring
  • Nurses are required to titrate drips
  • Common drips: Cardizem, beta-blockers, seizure medications
  • Charge Nurse available each shift
  • Patient care tech ratio: approximately 1:10 or 2:20
  • EMR: Epic

Schedule & Requirements:

  • Every other weekend
  • Every 3rd holiday
  • No call/standby requirement
  • Floating may be required to medical floors, ICU, or rehab
  • Orientation: First week onboarding + 1–2 days of unit orientation

RTO Policy:

  • RTO must be submitted upfront
  • Maximum 7 days of RTO allowed for a 13-week contract
  • Additional RTO will not be approved after submission

Other Important Policies:

  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient-care areas. Refusal to remove them may result in contract termination.
  • RN must pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a 90% minimum score. Failure to achieve 90% may result in termination.
