Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit

Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Open Heart Progressive Care team. This position involves working in a 29-bed unit focusing on the care of post-operative open heart and other cardiothoracic surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring. The role may include accepting Med/Surg overflow patients as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a progressive care setting.
• Monitor patient vitals and manage cardiac telemetry.
• Assist in chest tube insertion, management, and removal.
• Administer and manage care for central lines and external/internal pacemakers.
• Handle wound vacs and other post-operative care requirements.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Float between units as required to meet the facility’s needs.

Qualifications

• Must possess an active RN license in West Virginia.
• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
• Experience with chest tube insertion, central lines, and external/internal pacemakers is required.
• Ability to provide care for a patient ratio of 4:1.

Shift and Scheduling

• Night shifts available: 3x12 or 4x12 hours from 7 PM to 7 AM.
• Every other weekend commitment is required.
• Orientation for new hires is held biweekly on Thursdays.
• 36-hour guaranteed contracts available.
