Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Progressive Care Unit team, specializing in post-operative open heart and cardiothoracic surgical care. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in providing high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor patients recovering from open-heart surgery and other cardiothoracic procedures.
• Provide appropriate care for patients requiring cardiac telemetry and surgical recovery.
• Assist with the insertion, management, and removal of chest tubes.
• Perform central line placements and monitor their functionality.
• Utilize external and internal pacemakers and wound vacs effectively.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Float to other units as necessary within the scope of practice.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Registered Nurse license in West Virginia.
• Minimum two years of nursing experience, preferably in a progressive care or critical care setting.
• Current certification in BLS and ACLS.
• Experience with chest tube management, central lines, pacemakers, and wound vacs is required.
• Ability to manage a patient ratio of 4:1 effectively.

Shift & Scheduling

This position is for night shifts, requiring three 12-hour workdays each week, including every other weekend. The schedule is flexible, with block schedule requests accommodated based on facility needs.

Additional Information

Orientation is conducted bi-weekly on Thursdays. This role is critical in providing exceptional care for our patients and accepting medical/surgical overflow when necessary. Free parking is available for all staff.
