Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) with a specialty in Stepdown to join our team. As a critical member of the Cardiovascular Unit (CVU), you will utilize your clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions. The CVU provides care for over 4,000 cardiology patients annually, including procedures such as PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemakers. Additionally, approximately 300 open heart surgery patients are discharged from this unit within 18-24 hours post-operatively, while specialized care is offered to patients with congestive heart failure and during electrophysiology studies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to cardiovascular patients.
  • Monitor and assess patient conditions, providing timely intervention based on clinical findings.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the healthcare provider.
  • Educate patients and families regarding health management and care plans.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
  • Assist with research protocols as necessary, contributing to clinical trials managed by the research department.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of Stepdown experience is required.
  • Proficiency in Cardiac care is essential.
  • Comfort with EKG interpretation and monitoring.
  • Must be willing to float to similar units as required.
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications are mandatory.
  • Michigan Registered Nurse license verification is required.

Work Schedule and Requirements

  • 36-hour work week guarantee.
  • Weekend shifts will be required every other weekend.
  • On-call duties may be assigned occasionally.
  • A strict attendance policy will be enforced, with a maximum of three occurrences of missed shifts or tardiness resulting in termination.
