Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in the Intermediate Care Unit. This position requires a strong background in critical care nursing with a focus on emergency response and patient management.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced intermediate care setting.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry, recognizing and managing dysrhythmias.
• Administer and titrate vasoactive drips, including but not limited to Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, and Levophed.
• Manage patients with varying diagnoses including respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, GI bleeds, and post-operative care.
• Perform conscious sedation and care for patients requiring central and peripheral line management.
• Participate in rapid response and maintain effective communication with interdisciplinary teams.
• Adhere to safety protocols, including isolation precautions and heparin protocols.
• Administer blood products and manage complex care needs such as external CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with a strong background in critical care nursing.
• Experience with arterial lines, telemetry, and IV start procedures is required.
• Proven ability to work in high-pressure situations and manage complex patient needs.
• Must possess valid ACLS, BCLS, and NIH certifications.
• Experience as a traveler is accepted; first-time travelers are welcome.
• Ability to float to sister units as needed.
• Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start.

Scheduling Details

• Target patient ratios of 1:3-4.
• Available shifts include 36 or 48 hours per week, with 12-hour day shifts (06:45 - 19:15).
• Weekend work required every other weekend.
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days for Aya Auto Offers; no block scheduling is available.
• Orientation is provided during the first week of employment; attendance is required for all classes.

Special Equipment and Systems

• Utilize bedside telemetry monitors and make use of Pyxis and Epic systems.
• Experience with chest tubes, BIPAPs, and trach management is necessary.

Patient Demographics

The patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with a variety of conditions including but not limited to post-rapid response patients, post-operative complications, and patients experiencing withdrawal.
