Wellspring Nurse Source is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Roanoke, Virginia.

Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU Float

Scheduling Details

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift Details: 3x12s, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
  • Charting: Epic experience required
  • Floating: Staffing needs re-evaluated every 4 hours; role may require floating 2-3 times per shift
  • Weekend Requirement: May include every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
  • Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday within a 13-week contract

Qualifications

  • ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Pending licenses accepted if the candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
  • Must possess an active RN or LPN license from Virginia or a compact state

Required Clinical Skills

  • Experienced in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
  • Skilled in central line care, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway support (nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, and chest tubes)
  • Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, titration of cardiac drips, and responding to emergencies
  • Capable of managing PCA and heparin protocols, administering IV insulin, and handling endocrine/metabolic conditions
  • Background in telemetry and stepdown-level care (PCU/DOU/IMC), including cardiovascular experience in pre/post cardiac catheterization settings

Unit Details

  • PCU average nurse-to-patient ratio: 5:1
  • Med-Surg average nurse-to-patient ratio: 6:1 (may flex up to 7:1)

Call Off Policy

  • Facility may call off one shift every two weeks
