PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing and eligibility to practice in Michigan
• At least 1 year of recent acute-care or progressive care nursing experience
• Progressive Care Unit, step-down unit, or intermediate-care nursing experience strongly preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Recent experience with Epic electronic medical records (EMR)
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and meet the required weekly schedule
• Strong patient assessment, communication, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring progressive or intermediate-level monitoring.
• Perform detailed patient assessments, identify changes in condition, and promptly escalate clinical concerns.
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with current orders, nursing standards, and hospital policies.
• Monitor vital signs, clinical responses, and relevant patient data while maintaining accurate documentation in Epic.
• Coordinate patient care with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, nursing colleagues, patients, and families.
• Support individualized care planning, patient education, discharge preparation, and transitions of care.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and patient-centered environment while following applicable policies and clinical standards.
