Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse Manager position available in a Level II Trauma Center located in Bangor, Maine. This role involves overseeing the care of cardiac and medical patients, including post-operative trauma and cardiac interventions. The position requires leadership skills and clinical expertise in managing patients with complex conditions such as ventilated trached patients, stroke, trauma, and high acuity cases.

Job Details:

  • Shift Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Active certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Experience with progressive care unit (PCU) level RN skill set, including vent/trach management, stroke patient care, neuro checks (Q2H), high-flow oxygen therapy, trauma patient management, chest tubes, wound care, Bipap, vasoactive or antiarrhythmic drips, cardiac rhythm interpretation, temporary pacemakers, TR bands, post femoral sheath care, insulin drips, and general drain/ostomy care. Minimum of 2 years of experience in an intermediate or PCU setting is preferred.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with trauma care, ventilated patients, stroke, and cardiac patient management. Ability to support on the unit, including phlebotomy, support from resource nurses, and familiarity with hospital charting systems such as Cerner.
  • Floating: Float rotation may be required to Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, or Coronary Care Unit if designated.
  • Additional Information: Orientation includes general hospital onboarding followed by one day on the unit. Variable holiday expectations based on unit needs. Flexibility to approve time off up to 7 days, with holiday requests subject to managerial approval. Professional scrubs required; free parking available.
