Job Requirements

  • Active RN license in the state of practice or compact licensure eligibility
  • At least 1 year of Registered Nurse experience required
  • Stepdown, telemetry, progressive care, or acute care hospital experience strongly preferred
  • BLS required; ACLS and NIH Stroke Certification preferred or required within the appropriate timeframe
  • Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam
  • Ventilator or trach experience preferred
  • Experience with insulin drips, hemodynamic monitoring, and complex respiratory support is a plus
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care for high-acuity stepdown patients with respiratory, renal, surgical, and trauma needs
  • Perform comprehensive assessments, develop nursing plans of care, and evaluate patient outcomes
  • Administer medications and manage therapies safely and in accordance with nursing standards
  • Care for patients requiring drips, BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen, Airvo, trachs, and vents as assigned
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms, respond to changes in condition, and escalate care as needed
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, CNAs, and the broader care team to support optimal outcomes
  • Educate patients and families while promoting safety, comfort, and recovery
  • Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to a culture of quality improvement and patient advocacy
