Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) registered nurse position in a medical-surgical setting. The role involves providing specialized care to adult patients with acute or chronic conditions, including cardiac, renal, respiratory, and other medical diagnoses. This position requires the ability to manage telemetry monitoring, perform various invasive procedures, and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid registered nursing license, current BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIH (National Institute of Health) stroke scale certification, IV Insertion certification, and at least 3 years of relevant clinical experience
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with chest tube insertion, central line placement, tunneled catheter care, thoracentesis, and management of high-acuity medical conditions such as MI, CHF, CVA, and COPD
- Float: Float rotation may be required for other units such as Emergency Department, Medical Surgical, or Intensive Care Units, but float is not required for this role
- Additional Information:
- Charge nurse support with RN to patient ratios of 1:2, with flexibility to 1:5 on the unit and up to 1:4 on intermediate beds
- Flexible scheduling options with self-scheduling based on unit needs and managerial approval
- Titrate vasoactive drips including Nitro, Cardene, and Cardizem
- Patient population includes adult patients with cardiac, respiratory, renal, and other acute medical conditions
- Must complete Relias exams upon booking; two attempts allowed before pre-start cancellation
- Dress code: Black scrubs, white scrubs, or a combination of both
