Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,120–$2,230
• Assignment Type: 13-week PACU travel nursing contract
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• End Date: January 18, 2027
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5 shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 8-hour day shifts, with occasional 10-hour shifts
• Shift Time: Primarily 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m., with rotating start times between 6:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
• Weekly Hours: 40 hours per week
• Patient Population: Adults
• Work Environment: On-site Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), preoperative, and procedural recovery setting
• Additional Scheduling Note: Occasional extension beyond the scheduled end time may be needed to complete the day’s patient schedule.

PACU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Wisconsin
• At least 2 years of acute care nursing experience within the past 3 years, preferably in PACU, perioperative nursing, critical care, or a closely related specialty
• Experience caring for patients in a Level I trauma environment
• Experience with Epic or another electronic health record system; Epic experience is required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and CCRN certifications
• Proficiency with cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring
• Ability to successfully complete required adult and pediatric telemetry testing
• Ability to float to other areas as needed
• Seasonal influenza vaccination required; medical and religious exemptions may be considered
• Applicants residing within 50 miles of the assignment location are not eligible under the local assignment policy

PACU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive preoperative assessments, medication reconciliation, and patient education.
• Provide Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia recovery care for adult surgical and procedural patients.
• Monitor airway status, oxygenation, vital signs, pain, sedation level, and recovery progression.
• Recognize and respond to changes in cardiac rhythm, respiratory status, and hemodynamic condition.
• Manage IV therapy, central lines, ports, PICC lines, chest tubes, wound vacs, and other post-procedure equipment as appropriate.
• Administer and monitor procedural sedation, reversal agents, antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants, antihypertensives, narcotics, and other emergency medications according to established protocols.
• Care for patients following endoscopy, interventional radiology, catheterization, ophthalmology, ENT, plastics, orthopedic, laparoscopic, and other operative procedures.
• Perform or assist with EKG acquisition, blood product administration, urinary catheterization, phlebotomy, and other skilled nursing interventions.
• Provide discharge instructions, coordinate follow-up phone calls, and ensure patients and caregivers understand recovery requirements.
• Document assessments, interventions, responses to treatment, and discharge information accurately in Epic.
• Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, procedural teams, and other clinicians to promote safe, efficient patient recovery.
