Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pre-Admission Services position requiring OR RN experience and Epic proficiency to conduct comprehensive pre-operative patient assessments.

Details

  • Pre-Admission Services (PAS) department within a hospital/clinic setting
  • Conducts pre-operative assessments via telephone and in-person consultations
  • Day shift, Wed-Sat, 0800-1830
  • 3 shifts per week, 10 hours per shift
  • Utilizes Epic EMR for documentation and InBasket message triage
  • Uses clinical equipment including EKG, vital sign monitors, glucometer, and scales
  • Collaborates with anesthesia team, surgeons, CRNAs, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
  • May be floated to other departments where qualified, after core staff

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted OR and WA RN licenses required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience required
  • Previous surgical experience required
  • Epic EHR experience required
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred
  • CRASE training required if assignment extends beyond 6 months
  • PALS and specialty certifications (CPAN, CAPA, CNOR) preferred
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse patient population
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently and assist with patient transfers over 100 lbs with proper technique/aids

Additional Information

  • Performs comprehensive pre-operative risk assessments including medical history, medication, and allergy review
  • Identifies high-risk patients requiring additional medical clearance or specialty consultation
  • Coordinates pre-operative testing, consultations, and medical clearances
  • Provides patient education on procedures, anesthesia options, NPO guidelines, and post-op expectations
  • Acts as patient advocate and supports informed consent understanding
  • Participates in multidisciplinary care planning for high-risk patients
  • Maintains compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and DNV standards
  • Frequent exposure to infectious materials and hazardous equipment requiring PPE use
  • Works independently while closely coordinating with the perioperative care team
