Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pre-Admission Services position requiring OR RN licensure and prior surgical nursing experience.

Details

  • Work in the Pre-Admission Services (PAS) department conducting pre-operative patient assessments and risk evaluations
  • Perform assessments via telephone consultations and in-person visits
  • Collaborate with PAS advanced practice provider, anesthesia team, surgeons, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Uses Epic EMR for documentation and InBasket message triage
  • Coordinate pre-operative testing, consultations, and medical clearances based on patient risk factors
  • Day shift schedule of 3x10-hour shifts per week (Monday, Tuesday, Friday)
  • Agency nurses may be floated to other qualified departments before core staff

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted Oregon and Washington RN licenses required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • CRASE training required (mandatory if assignment extends beyond 6 months)
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience required
  • Previous surgical experience required
  • Epic EHR experience required
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse patient population
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently and frequently push, pull, or reposition objects up to 25 lbs

Additional Information

  • Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments including medical history, medications, allergies, and prior surgical/anesthetic experiences
  • Identify high-risk patients requiring additional medical clearance, optimization, or specialty consultation
  • Provide pre-operative patient education on procedures, anesthesia options, dietary restrictions, medication management, and arrival procedures
  • Support patients and families through informed consent processes and discharge planning discussions
  • Function as an integral member of the perioperative care team, collaborating with CRNAs, anesthesiologists, surgeons, and OR nursing staff
  • Participate in multidisciplinary care planning meetings for high-risk patients
  • Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and DNV regulatory standards and participate in required DNV education
  • Work in an indoor healthcare environment with frequent exposure to infectious materials, requiring standard PPE use
