Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring post-anesthesia recovery expertise and call rotation availability.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting within the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
  • Recovers patients from General, Regional, and Conscious Sedation anesthesia across all age ranges
  • Patient population spans Critical Care, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Cardiac, Ortho/Neuro, General, Urology, Plastics, and ENT surgical cases
  • Common procedures include cardioversions, TEEs, blood patches, lines, and blocks
  • Uses MEDITECH EMR
  • Day shift schedule, 8a-8:30p, three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Call rotation required, including 2-3 weeknight call shifts in a four-week schedule and every 4th weekend
  • On-call staff must be able to report to the unit within 30 minutes when called
  • Weekend rotation alternates monthly between day and night 12-hour shifts

Requirements

  • Active RN license (GA state or compact) required
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU or post-anesthesia recovery experience required
  • Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS
  • BSN not required
  • Experience managing drains including cranial, spinal, hemovac, and chest tubes
  • Airway management skills including OAW, NAW, OETT, and extubation
  • Experience with ventilators, trach, and OETT care
  • Hemodynamic monitoring experience
  • Knowledge of malignant hyperthermia management
  • Experience initiating and maintaining drips such as Heparin, sedation, and pressors
  • Knowledge of post-op pain, nausea, and blood pressure medications
  • Understanding of general anesthesia medications
  • Experience with fundal massages, post-partum hemorrhage management, and OB complication care
  • Bladder irrigation maintenance experience
  • Vascular post-op care experience including carotid neuro assessments, sheath removal, site monitoring, and A-line maintenance and removal
  • Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive post-anesthesia recovery care across a wide range of surgical specialties
  • Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility in Albany, GA to be eligible for placement
  • Not eligible for placement if previously employed by the facility within the last 12 months
