  • Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 7–8 patients
  • Daily Volume: Approximately 80 visits per day
  • Charting: Epic electronic health record (EHR)
  • Float: May be required
  • Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs
  • Travel Requirement: This is a travel assignment; local candidates within 75 miles are not eligible

Oncology Infusion RN Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Connecticut
  • At least 2 years of recent outpatient oncology infusion nursing experience; first-time travelers are welcome
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification
  • Oncology chemotherapy certification through ONS/ONCC and OCN certification
  • Current flu vaccination as required for the assignment
  • Strong experience with chemotherapy administration, infusion therapy, peripheral IVs, and implanted ports
  • Recent experience using Epic or a comparable electronic health record
  • Ability to provide one professional reference

Outpatient Oncology Nursing Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric oncology patients receiving outpatient infusions
  • Administer chemotherapy and other intravenous therapies in accordance with established protocols
  • Access, assess, and maintain peripheral IVs and implanted ports
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after treatment, recognizing and responding to adverse reactions or changes in condition
  • Perform patient assessments, obtain vital signs, complete pain assessments, and evaluate treatment readiness
  • Provide patient education related to treatment, medications, symptom management, and follow-up care
  • Support triage activities and communicate patient concerns to the appropriate clinical team
  • Care for patients with a range of solid tumor diagnoses, including breast, gynecologic, melanoma, renal, genitourinary, sarcoma, neurologic, head and neck, lung, and gastrointestinal cancers
  • Complete venipuncture, specimen labeling, glucose monitoring, medication administration, dressing changes, and related clinical procedures
  • Document care accurately in Epic and collaborate with interdisciplinary support services
  • Float to related outpatient areas as needed to support safe and efficient patient care
