Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Orthopedic / Medical-Surgical Unit – North Carolina

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts; 36 or 48 hours per week available. Every other weekend required. Block scheduling options available (Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday). No call requirement. Contract duration up to February 27, 2027.

Highlights:
  • Fast-paced orthopedic and neuro spine unit with medical-surgical and post-surgical patient populations
  • Patient ratios typically 5-6:1, with flexibility to 7:1 in extreme circumstances
  • Epic EMR system utilized facility-wide
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
  • Up to 7 days of pre-approved time off (excluding holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Floating may be required to other medical-surgical units based on facility census and staffing needs
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience required
  • Orthopedic experience is mandatory
  • Active North Carolina or Compact state RN license
  • Epic charting system experience required (first-time travelers must have Epic experience)
  • Required certifications: BLS (BCLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Required skills: IV start and insertion, telemetry monitoring and interpretation
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
  • Preferred: ACLS certification, Charge Nurse experience, Level I Trauma experience
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
