Registered Nurse (RN) - Orthopedic

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Orthopedics to join our fast-paced unit. The position requires a dedicated professional capable of managing a diverse patient population, including orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical patients.

Contract Details

• Contracts available for 20+ weeks, with a hard stop on February 27, 2027.
• Scheduling options include block scheduling for flexibility.
• Night shifts consisting of 12-hour shifts.
• Maximum of 7 days of RTO allowed, with no approval for holiday RTO.
• Call and float requirements are in effect as needed to meet staffing demands.

Patient Population

The average daily census is 37, with a capacity of 39 rooms/39 beds. Care will include a range of diagnoses, with all Covid patients integrated across general units rather than a dedicated unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care for orthopedic and spine patients, ensuring effective pain management.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care aligned with patient needs.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, documenting care accurately and timely.
• Support unit operations and logistics, maintaining compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, specifically in Orthopedics is required.
• Traveler Experience: First-time travelers with Epic experience are welcomed.
• Certifications: Current BCLS and NIH certifications are mandatory. ACLS certification is preferred.
• Additional preferred qualifications include charge nurse experience and experience in a Level I trauma environment.
• Strong skills in IV starts and telemetry are required.

Work Conditions

• Staff-to-patient ratios of 5-6:1, potentially flexing to 7:1 during extreme circumstances.
• Every other weekend commitment is a requirement, with make-up time expected if shifts are missed.

Additional Notes

Candidates must successfully pass EKG testing prior to commencing the position.
