Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Orthopedic Nurse 4th Floor North & South, Nights This position is based on the 4th Floor North & South in the medical surgical orthopedic unit. The RN will deliver quality patient care for patients undergoing joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive. The role requires strong team collaboration and attention to patient safety in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS (American Heart Association) certification; Minimum two years of experience in medical surgical orthopedic nursing; Experience in managing patients with diagnoses such as joint replacements, fractures, COPD exacerbation, and GI bleeds; Drivers license; Ability to pass a pass/fail exam during orientation with a 90% passing score required
- Preferred Qualifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification; Familiarity with tele monitor interpretation and titration of drips such as Heparin, Lidocaine, and Ketamine; Experience with electronic medical records using systems like EPIC
- Additional Information: Candidates must adhere to the fingernail policy prohibiting artificial nails. Successful completion of the skills exam at orientation is mandatory for continued employment. RNs will be responsible for hourly patient rounding, telemetry awareness, and managing multiple admissions and discharges in one day. Float to other medical surgical units may be required.
- Submission Requirements: Candidates must be outside a 50-mile radius of any facility associated with the organization, verified through drivers license and radius rule compliance.
