Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available on days (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) with a 30-minute lunch break
• Night shift weekends include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; Day shift weekends include Saturday and Sunday on an every-other-weekend rotation
• Holiday coverage may be required depending on unit needs
• Travelers will be scheduled based on unit needs with block scheduling available as long as unit needs are met
• Low census call-off possible depending on contract terms
• 33-bed unit with all private rooms and a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Common patient diagnoses include elective surgeries (hips, knees, shoulders), fractures from falls, back and neck neurosurgeries, and general MedSurg cases
• Must have experience with orthopedic patients and PCA pumps
• IV fluids and PCA pumps are common; no heparin or other drips required
• Remote telemetry available if needed, monitored by the 3rd floor; RNs are not required to read strips
• RT-managed equipment including CPAP, BiPap, and high flow oxygen available on the unit
• Patient Care Techs (PCTs) on unit to assist with vitals, FSBS, ADLs, and Foley discontinuation
• Travelers are first to float and may be required to float to any MedSurg units; if floated to Tele, patients will be within skillset
• Royal blue scrubs required; scrub jackets must be royal blue if worn (no hoodies or sweat jackets)
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• Must submit an unexpired copy of candidate's driver's license with all submittals

This acute care facility operates a 33-bed Orthopedic and Neurology unit with all private rooms, providing high-quality care for patients undergoing elective orthopedic surgeries and neurosurgical procedures. The unit is supported by a Charge Nurse 24/7, Patient Care Techs, and respiratory therapy staff, ensuring comprehensive patient care. The facility utilizes EPIC as its charting system and maintains a structured orientation process to help travelers acclimate quickly to the unit's workflow and standards.
