Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine

Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,500–$2,630
  • Location: Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, with convenient access to the Bangor area
  • Start Date: November 2, 2026
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks
  • Healthcare Setting: 25-bed critical access hospital with three operating room suites and one dedicated GI endoscopy room
  • Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; department closed Fridays except for call coverage
  • Shift Duration: 8-hour day shifts
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Call Requirement: 4–8 call shifts per month, generally 4:30 p.m.–7:00 a.m.; one weekend of call per month
  • Call Response: 20-minute response time required
  • Orientation: Four department orientation shifts, with independent call expected during the second week
  • Technology: Cerner EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing
  • Additional Details: No floating; surgical scrubs provided; free parking

Operating Room RN Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Maine
  • At least 2 years of Operating Room nursing experience; candidates with 1 year may be considered if they have strong experience across the required specialties
  • Recent experience circulating a broad range of general, orthopedic, podiatric, gynecologic, obstetric, endoscopic, and urologic cases
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Ability to monitor patients on a cardiac monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms
  • Comfort learning pre-operative and post-anesthesia recovery support duties
  • Cerner experience is strongly preferred; candidates without Cerner experience must be comfortable learning electronic medical records quickly
  • Ability to meet the required 20-minute call response time

Perioperative RN Responsibilities

  • Circulate Operating Room procedures in a safe, efficient, and patient-centered manner
  • Support general procedures, including cholecystectomies, appendectomies, colectomies, and hernia repairs
  • Support orthopedic, sports medicine, podiatric, gynecologic, obstetric, endoscopic, and urologic cases
  • Circulate cesarean section procedures as assigned; LDRP nursing experience is not a substitute for OR circulating experience
  • Recover patients after procedures during callback and assist with post-case monitoring
  • Complete pre-operative interviews and support pre-op activities as needed
  • Monitor patients on cardiac telemetry and respond appropriately to rhythm changes
  • Transport patients when needed and assist with room turnover and cleaning between cases
  • Participate in scheduled weekday, overnight, weekend, and holiday call coverage
  • Collaborate with the supervisor, charge nurse, CRNAs, respiratory therapy, and the broader surgical services team
