Job Summary
This role is for a dedicated Registered Nurse to join a combined Adult and Pediatric Medical-Surgical unit in Sweetwater, Texas. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population, including adults and children recovering from various medical conditions and surgical procedures, potentially including orthopedic cases.
Working the night shift, you will manage a patient assignment with ratios typically ranging from 1:4 to 1:6, focusing on patient assessment, medication administration, and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult and pediatric patients on a combined Medical-Surgical unit.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and implement nursing interventions.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for effectiveness and adverse reactions.
- Manage patient assignments with typical ratios of 1:4 to 1:6, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records.
- Respond to emergent situations and provide critical care as needed within the scope of practice.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in an acute care Medical-Surgical setting, with demonstrated experience caring for both adult and pediatric patient populations.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
