Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical Oncology

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical Oncology. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional nursing care to a diverse patient population, ranging from adults to geriatrics, across a dynamic healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care for oncology and hematology patients from diagnosis to end-of-life stages.
• Manage oncologic emergencies and adhere to DNR/CC protocols.
• Administer chemotherapy and pain management through morphine, dilaudid drips, CADD pumps, and PCA pumps.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including chemotherapy precautions.
• Participate in interdisciplinary communication using SBAR methodology.

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant nursing specialty; new graduates are welcome to apply.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification is required.
• Proficiency in Epic electronic health record system is required.

Work Environment

• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6, with a 19-bed unit and an average daily census of 15.
• Scrub color is navy blue.
• Floating may be required within the facility and potentially to nearby locations.
• Call requirements: None.

Scheduling

• Shift: Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00 - 07:00).
• Every other weekend commitment is expected.
• Maximum Request Time Off (RTO): 7 days.
• Holiday work may be required; after one major holiday in the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work it, with additional holiday commitments as specified.

Compliance

Full compliance with onboarding requirements is necessary to ensure start date adherence. Non-compliance may result in delayed start dates due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling.
