Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical - Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day/Night Rotate Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in a large hospital setting License: Active RN License (ND or Compact) Certifications: Active BLS - must be AHA Must-Have: 2 years of recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting. Experience in a busy level 1 trauma center. EPIC experience. Willing to float to all med surg units/locations as needed. Travel experience preferred. Inpatient oncology experience preferred; hematology and bone marrow transplant experience a bonus. Description: Nurses care for medically complex hematology/oncology patients, needing blood products, antibiotics, and symptom/side effect management. Nurses perform head-to-toe assessments, administer medications, communicate with the interdisciplinary team, and update patients and families. If trained to administer chemotherapy, duties might include administering chemotherapy as assigned. Equipment utilized includes EPIC, monitors, glucometers, bladder scanners, language line, and communication devices. Nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 for patients receiving chemotherapy or bone marrow transplant patients, and 1:4-6 for regular oncology patients on nights. Nurses will not work alone and no on-call duties are required. Floating to other med-surg units may be necessary. Training includes 8 hours of classroom training followed by unit-specific training. Navy blue scrubs are required.
