Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Med Surg – Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Day/Night Rotate Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting with 250+ beds; travel experience preferred; inpatient oncology experience preferred; experience with hematology and bone marrow transplant is a bonus. License: Active RN License in ND or Compact State Certifications: AHA BLS Certification required Must-Have: - 2 years recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting - Experience in a busy level 1 trauma center - Active BLS certification (must be AHA) - EPIC experience - Willingness to float to all med-surg units and locations as needed Description: Nurses care for medically complex hematology/oncology patients, needing blood products, antibiotics, and symptom/side effect management. Nurses perform head-to-toe assessments, administer medications, communicate with interdisciplinary team members, and update patients and families. If trained to administer chemotherapy, candidates may be assigned accordingly. Equipment utilized includes EPIC, Philips Care Monitors, glucometers, bladder scanners, language line, and zebra phone. Nurse to patient ratios include 1:3 for patients receiving chemotherapy or bone marrow transplant patients and 1:4-5 for regular oncology patients. During night shifts, nurse to patient ratios are 1:4-6. General training includes eight hours of classroom training followed by 24-36 hours on the unit. Candidates will participate in rotating shifts, including every other weekend and holiday. Floating to other med-surg units may be necessary.
