Certifications: Active BLS certification (AHA)
Must-Have:
Recent nursing experience in a busy level 1 trauma center
EPIC experience
Willing to float to all med-surg units as needed
Travel experience preferred
Inpatient oncology experience is preferred
Hematology and bone marrow transplant experience is a bonus
Description:
Nurses will care for medically complex hematology/oncology patients.
Responsibilities include administering blood products, antibiotics, and managing symptoms/side effects.
Nurses will perform head-to-toe assessments and administer medications.
They will communicate with the interdisciplinary team and update patients and their families.
If trained in chemotherapy administration, nurses may be assigned accordingly.
Required equipment includes EPIC, Philips Care Monitors, glucometers, bladder scanners, language line, and communication devices.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 for patients receiving chemotherapy or bone marrow transplant care, and 1:4-6 for regular oncology patients during night shifts.
Training consists of both classroom and hands-on unit experience.
Nurses will work every other weekend and holiday.
Floating to other med-surg units may be required.
