Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of oncology experience required License: MO or compact license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, Chemotherapy Certification Must-Have: Oncology experience required Administration of chemotherapy Accessing and managing ports Administration of blood and blood products PICC line care Starting and maintaining IVs Telemetry interpretation Floating within the oncology department as needed Description: The position requires a registered nurse with oncology experience. The nurse will handle auto stem cell transplants and chemotherapy administration. The average patient ratio is 4:1 on all shifts. The daily census averages 30 patients. Every other weekend work is required. The nurse will float to the unit with the greatest need each shift. Candidates must pass a Relias EKG exam. Experience in managing dysrhythmias is mandatory. Chemo certification is required. The nurse will also be responsible for isolation precautions and monitoring telemetry. Additional duties include administration of antiemetics, antibiotics, and Foley catheter management. The work environment includes interdisciplinary support from various teams such as pharmacy and social services. Special procedures include management of complications from blood cancers and acute tumor lysis syndrome. Candidates should be familiar with handling body fluids post-chemotherapy and patient education related to chemotherapy. The facility emphasizes teamwork and is a Magnet-designated teaching hospital.
